Hamas fired rockets into Israel today and yesterday killing a few soldiers and a civilian, and Israel responded by bombing Hamas tunnels with no reported casualties and threatening a "harsh" "disproportionate" response.  The U.N. charter only allows proportionate response but it's never really been followed in war before.

The U.S. announced yesterday that it is sending the Undersecretary of State to go listen to Iran's top nuclear official talk to a delegation from the E.U.  This is the first diplomatic contact we've had with them in three decades.
